OLight is offering a expansion to the PL X covered here last June. The new PL X GL adds a green laser to the mix which greatly expands use of a weapon-mounted light.

In recent years with pistol dots like those from OSight many have commented in videos that they no longer see the value of a laser on handguns; a trend that was very popular just a decade ago. Those feeling that way seem to have missed out on the most valuable aspect of having an aiming laser on a handgun: you no longer need to have your face behind the gun in order to aim. This force multiplier (to use a term officers loved in the GWOT days) enables a practiced user to keep more of their body behind cover; needing only to expose enough of their head to see. I've done a few videos on this topic over the years, and will be doing a new one soon as new-shooter Anna experiences and learns this advantage.

What is It? The OLight PL X GLis a 1,200 lumen multi-function light and laser combination offering flood or spot light with or without a green aiming laser, or just laser. The unit has an internal batter and is USB-C rechargeable with the included cable. When on color-coded LED lighting informs the user of the current charge level. Mounting is accomplished with a 1913 of Glock-pattern (adapter is included) rail and the mounting lug is adjustable to one of four positions to accomodate different rail locations and trigger guards.

Who's it for? The OLight PL X GL is too large for shorter pistols, but fits 4" compact-sized handguns nicely and is shaped nicely to be about the same width as a standard compact handgun. I know some folks like to carry with a weapon-mounted light. Personally I prefer to keep my light separate from my weapon in carry, but I use a laser/light combination very similar to the OLight PL X GL for my bedside gun. If there's ever a place in which you know shoting from cover is a possibility it's in home defense.

Where can I get one? While this is available directly from OLight, it's also available with Amazon's quick shipping HERE for $149.99 so you can slip it in with your next Amazon order.

As I've learned to expect, OLight provides a high-value package with all necessary parts and pieces, in this case even including spare screws for the laser adjustment.

Total run time for all five modes is not listed, but as laser-only it's rated for up to nine hours which is plenty of time for good training. You can look for the OLight PL X GL in an upcoming video on the 2nd GBGuns channel.
