Discreet Knowledge with Kinisium

Chances are if you're wise enough to own a firearm you've also wise enough to think about physical security. We can't always lock up our valuables, and sometimes there's not an absolute need to, but it never hurts to know what's going on when you're not present.
I was approached by a Kinisium to take a look at the Kini; a small device that when moved alerts you via text message. As with all GBGuns reports no money exchanged hands, I was simply sent the product to take a look at. Unlike other dvices, the Kini does not require a subscription service, or even connection to a cellular network because it works via wifi.
The use of a wifi connection means the device is most useful in the house with or without you home, but that also means it could be used for a wide variety of applications:
Did you take your pills today? At what time?
Is your pet getting into something they're not supposed to?
Are the kids getting into something they're not supposed to?
What time did ______ come home or leave the house?
Is someone snooping in my "do not touch" box?
Has that door been opened?
ANY time you want to know if something has been disturbed. Kini sends a text message and that thread in your messages serves as a log.
It works. I used the Kini while I was away on a work trip. Knowing my dad would be stopping by the house daily to take care of the pets, and already having an alarm and motion sensors on the house I simply taped the Kini to the pet food container. As soon as my dad touched the container I received a text, even while on another continent.
No lock or alarm system prevents crime, they most they can do is deter and delay crime. The Kini is not going to tell you where something is; other devices already offer that. Kini offers a simple, long-lasting system to know if something has been disturbed. At the time or writing this article it has been three weeks since I charged the Kini and, having left it on the table, it went off last night when a cat jumped on the table. No obnoxious alarm, no unintentional police calls, just a discreet text notification that Kini had been moved.
