The most-recent voting was nearly a tie with the Alpha Foxtrot AF1911 Attila narrowly winning. What Is It? The Alpha Foxtrot Attila is a compact-to-subcompact doublestack 1911 with an all-aluminum frame shaped and sized well for carry. A 3.5" barrel may not be ideal for 9mm, but gets you better ballistics than most micro compacts" and a compensator on the nose helps tame the flippiness shorter pistols can have.

Assuming everyone's mounting dots these days the AF1911 does not come with a cover plate, instead coming with mounting plates for the RMR and RMS/c footprint of optics. The rear sight is built into these plates ensuring the pistol is still usable without an optic or should a low-mount optic fail.

Who's It For? The size, capacity, and frame shape of the AF1911 Attila suggest it might make for a good carry option, however a compensator on a carry gun is bad idea in my opinion. A gun that might be fired from close retention, in a confined space, or from the ground is not one that I want to have a compensator or ports. With a weight of 27.2oz (on my scale without magazine, Alpha Foxtrot does not list weight as of 1JUN26) you'll know it's there, and it weighs more than a BUL Armory Ultralight as one might expect with a longer barrel and slide.

**Correction: I sloppily mistook Dasan for Doosan in the tabletop video. They are not the same company. Additionally the manual DOES state to not use +p ammunition.

Contrary to advertisement and public statement, the Alpha Foxtrot Attila came with just one magazine and no test-fire casing. Manual is a QR code.

As we've seen in the past with other companies, it appears that once again if a company is unwilling to submit for a GBGuns review there's likely a reason. Even more likely if their products are seen in the hands of influencers, but not in the hands of serious journalists. When I contacted Alpha Foxtrot regarding warranty work for the faulty safety and accuracy issues (more on that later) they did not want to issue an RMA for the safety faults since the safety works sometimes. Read that again.

Specs for the AF1911 Attila are a bit light as of 01JUN26. I hope more information becomes available since this gun is already in circulation.

Not sure what to think, but eager to try a Patron recommendation we hit the range for the standard GBGuns Protocol while not yet aware of the potentially dangerous issue of an under-supported muzzle combined with a sloppily-fit compensator. As always, the GBGuns Range Protocol would be followed to ensure an unbiased review and create a truer picture of what you might experience:

  • Cold Shots: Truly our first shots through the gun.

  • Full Magazine +1: Suprisingly some modern guns still struggle with this. It's a test of how much play is in the magazine as well as how the slide cycles with pressure. This is also when I do my best to learn the trigger.

  • What's For Dinnerâ„¢: A test to see what ammunition the gun will eat. Does the gun feed the round from slide lock, will it cycle and feed another round of the same type, does the slide lock to the rear on empty, and is there any notable point of impact change with different loads.

For this gun the following ammunition was used:

  • Sights & Trigger Control: on a 6" spinner target at a distance of 12-ish yards. We got this from Titan Great Outdoors and use it to gauge how learnable the trigger is and usable the sights are for forced, timed, precise shots.

  • Practical Accuracy: Five shots from a distance of seven yards at a one inch target. This isn't so much about printing a tight group as it is a culmination of the shooting experience and time for to collect thoughts prior to making a conclusion.

  • After Shots: Final impressions and reflections from the range session.

On the Range we had some peculiar accuracy issues. It seemed like the gun was dead-on one moment, and then drasticaly different the next. The sights are solid, trigger good and predictable, and trigger weight to gun weight ratio good enough that it was unlikely we were throwing the gun off that much shot to shot. When I got home and took the gun apart I immediately spotted:

Possible copper streaks on the compensator of the Alpha Foxtrot Attila

Hot gasses, unburnt powder, filler, and the bullet are the only things that pass through the muzzle of the gun and only the copper of the bullet jacket has a shine to it like that. If the bullet is grazing the compensator that would cause accuracy issues like we experienced and could be a major safety concern as tolerances open up with use. This made me take another look at the Attila's fit after getting some rounds through it.

I immediately contacted Alpha Foxtrot about getting this gun fixed, assuming that since it did not include two magazines or a test-fire casing as advertised that maybe this gun made it out the door before final QC. Alpha Foxtrot was highly resistant to my concerns and needed video footage to confirm my claims. It wasn't until I sent them a clip of the tabletop video that they were willing to issue an RMA. I certainly hope it wasn't recognition of the GBGuns tabletop that caused a sudden reverse of Alpha Foxtrot's stance, but after ten emails I finally got an RMA for this potentially dangerous firearm to be re-evaluated.

I will update this post once I get the gun back from Alpha Foxtrot. I hope this is an odd exception to the quality control of the company, but I've never expereinced such resistance to take a look at a gun under warranty for safety concerns. If they hadn't taken it back I'd have been stuck with a $1,000 paper weight that I don't feel safe shooting and would be unethical to sell.
