GBGuns has covered practically every OSight release, causing formation of the OSight Guide which helps handgunners find the right optic for their budget and needs. Now OSight has stepped into the rifle space with the release of the OSight R.
I admit to having some personal interest in this launch as I had the privledge of briefly shooting with a prototype some time ago. It was long enough ago that I don't recall my criticisms at the time, but so far in handling the production model I have no complaints.
What is it? The OSight R is a large-window, multi-reticle, unmagnified optic for rifles, are as seen in my photos, on large-format pistols and pistol-caliber carbines. The footprint is the Micro T1/T2 and a pic rail riser mount is included. While smaller enlcosed optics can serve just fine, the larger window of the OSight R permits for a greater field of view and in my opinion a better sight picture with more situational awareness than the tunnel vision pistol optics can cause.
Who's It For? The large 1.10"x 0.87" window's field of view makes for great scanning of a target area, cirle-and-dot reticles as the OSight R is capable of also aid in quick bracketing of a target. Combined I think the OSight R is ideal for large-format pistols and pistol-caliber carbines, as well as rifles intended for shorter range mobile engagement.

As we've come to expect OSight includes a full kit with spares in their products. Their risers (three heights available) inslude spare screws in case you lose the ones that came with the optic.
The OSight R mounts are also smartly built with a real recoil lug and do not simply rely on the screw to engage the rail.
