Made for the popular RMS/c footprint used on today's micro compacts and mane doublestack 1911s, the Fortic EP1 is a new entry, further expanding our options.
I had never heard of Fortic prior to an email from a company representative offering one for review. I've been happy with the other brands I use, but if we remained content we'd never have moved past the early giant, flimsy, short-life red dots from the competitive shooting world that started this whole craze.
What Is It? The Fortic EP1 is an enclosed-emitter red dot in the RMS/c footprint with a side-loading CR1620 battery. My sample has a 6moa red dot, but a green model is also available with a circle-dot configuration. A battery-saving motion activation feature is included with sleep after 10min.
Why 6moa? 6moa is considered to be the sweet spot for quick target aquisition and engagement such as in defensive shooting. Smaller dots permit greater accuracy, but may be harder to spot on target.
A simple first look of the optic can be seen in the introduction video below. Rumble Link

I first attempted mounting to the Kimber R7 Carbon Compact before a range trip let me know that I too was a victim of Kimber's apparently notorious threading issue. I remounted the Fortic EP1 on the PSA Dagger Micro for a revisit of that pistol which can be seen below. Rumble Link.
The dot is certainly better than what came on the PSA Micro Dagger, and it makes sense to have an easy-to-find 6MOA dot in a micro footprint for carry and defensive guns. Aside from my initial mounting struggles that are not Fortic's fault, I'm pleased with the EP1 so far.
