Wow, I can't imagine the fear and frustration of all of that going on and having to wait 9 months for your Constitutional right to defend yourself and family. We're about an hour from the Portland, OR riots, but were already well-armed and living in a county very different from Portland's. I'm sorry to say it, but starting with a Grand Power will leave you spoiled! Most other guns of the same size will feel violent and clunky. Make sure you get some good training. Firearms are the great equalizer which is part of where my passion comes from. Physical strength and size means little against anyone who is armed and trained.

I first learned about this when I started learning about AKs (as a shooter, beyond my studies of Russian and Soviet weaponry and tactics in the military). I showed up to local 3-gun matches with an AK-74 and was accused of being "un-American". I was still on active duty at that time, had already served in two wars, and my dedication to our nation was being called into question by those who hadn't served a day! A mechanical device is a mechanical device.
