Franklin Armory seems to be continuing their role as the mad scientists of the American firearms market. This time it's with a new type of ammunition. These 5.56x45mm shot shell rounds remind me a bit of some of the improvised anti-drone ammunition we've seen from the Ukraine war, except being Franklin Armory these are well-made. As one might expect for a unique loading coming from a company freshly-starting ammunition production these are not inexpensive. Quite often in the ammunition world components such as projectiles are shopped from major producers, or are a slight variant of a time-tested mass-produced design. The Rabbit Rounds are unique and lack that off-the-shelf ease of construction; consequently they cost more.

What Are They? Effectively a mini shot shell in 5.56x45mm sizing consisting of four pellets in a projectile-shaped sabot to feed and function in AR-15 firearms. Franklin Armory demonstrates them in a suppressed rifle, showing them as suppressor safe. No commentary was made in the video about it, but I'm betting you do not want to use a 30caliber suppressor on these.
What Are They For? The launch video describes them as an alternative load for fast-moving small targets of opportunity, or for simple fun.
Are They Any Good? Test data on Franklin Armory's product page shows impressive muzzle velocity and energy as well as an acceptable spread for targets inside of 30 yards. These numbers show Rabbit Rounds to not be a gimmick, but rather adding versatility to the AR-15 platform. I have not shot these personally, but they appear to have some real potential.
