When I reviewed the Sig 1911-X Emperor Scorpion I was very impressed with the fit, finish, quality, and shooting experience of the gun as well as the modernization and tuning done to what is already a century-old design. With all that Sig does, the question of course arose as to when Sig would release a double stack design. At Sig NEXT 2025 (See 2024 NEXT coverage HERE) which I was unable to attend, the P211 was announced.

This biggest thing setting the P211 apart from other double stack 1911s is the use of the Sig P320 magazine. This means magazines will cost less and be more available than the standard "2011" magazine, and unlike the Glock-magazine models won't have an awkward grip angle conversion. Additionally, though I have yet to touch a P211, I imagine this also will make for a smaller grip cricumferance than a typical double stack 1911 as P320 magazines were designed for 9mm from the beginning and so are smaller, requiring less stock to fit than "2011" magazines.

In keeping with the finest traditions of Sig's website no MSRP is listed yet, nor is a projected availability date. What we do have are some specifications and a couple of photos for now. With luck GBGuns will have a full review for you once the P211 is available. Images and specifications courtesy of Sig.

I am not surprised by the "reliable firing pin safety" statement as the P320 continues to be an issue to the point of ranges and classes banning it. I have no doubt that Sig will do a ton of drop safe testing from higher than normal distances. There is too much at stake to do otherwise.

The Oracle Arms 2311 also uses P320 magazines and has been available for 2 or 3 years now.
